After a jam-packed Power Week 1 at the 2025 Telkom Netball League, we caught up with the captain of the Northern Cape Diamonds, Andiswa Dlamini, to reflect on her team’s experience, lessons learned, and what lies ahead in Power Week 2.
1. What were some of the key takeaways or standout moments for your side during Power Week 1?
I would say the power play. When it’s Supershot time, things get very interesting.
2. What lessons has your team taken from the opening matches that you’re hoping to build on? Any specific areas you’ve identified for improvement?
To never underestimate other teams or players. Each player comes with a different game plan depending on the opposition. Even if you analyse the team, it might not be the same game plan on the day. We’ve also learned to play as a team and not as individuals.
3. What is the team focusing on as you prepare for Power Week 2? Has anything shifted in mindset, strategy or preparation?
It’s the same game plan as Power Week 1. Everyone to do their job in whatever position they are given. We all need to understand our responsibilities and focus on doing our part.
4. What role are your team’s experienced players playing in mentoring younger or newer team members?
We guide them, show them the right direction, and give instructions based on what we’ve faced before, both on and off court. We provide constructive feedback to help them grow, encourage them, and boost their confidence—just so they know we’ve got their backs.
5. What are you and your team most looking forward to in the next block of fixtures? Any match-ups you’re excited about or goals you’ve set?
We’ve set goals for ourselves. Just because we’re a new team doesn’t mean we should relax or use that as an excuse. We must continue fighting and never give up on ourselves—because we are a GOOD team, full of young talent.

To the amazing fans, thank you so much for all the love and support you’ve shown us. Even though we are away from home, your cheers are loud enough. Your strength and resilience inspire us every day.
