As the Limpopo Lilies prepare for the final stretch of the 2025 Telkom Netball League, Head Coach Tshmangadzo Munayi shares insights into her team’s growth, preparation, and focus. Here’s what she had to say:
1. What has been the biggest area of growth for your team since the opening whistle of Power Week 1?
The biggest area of growth in our team has been improving communication, decision-making, ball placement, and taking care of our centre passes.
2. How are you approaching preparation for this final stretch — physically, mentally, and tactically?
I’ve given the players a program to follow to help them stay physically and mentally fit. Tactically, I have encouraged them to attend team club training.
3. Are there any standout players who’ve surprised or impressed you this season?
Yes.
4. What will it take for your team to finish strong in Durban?
They need to be mentally and physically fit and support each other both on and off the court.
5. How have you seen your team culture evolve over the course of this year’s TNL?
It has encouraged healthy competition among players, with everyone supporting each other, seeking feedback, and sharing skills and ideas. There’s also a great focus on communication and mutual respect, regardless of culture.
6. Looking at the current standings, which upcoming fixture are you most focused on — and why?
We are focused on playing against Sonoblomo and the Diamonds.
7. How do you help your players stay grounded and focused amidst the pressure of must-win matches?
I keep calm and address challenges respectfully, providing clear instructions and encouraging them during the game.
8. Have there been any key lessons or turning points this season that have reshaped your team’s outlook?
Yes, the players are now ready to play any position if needed and are focused on following the game plans accordingly.
9. What role have your senior players or leadership group played in keeping the squad motivated?
They ensure that everything is done as a team, leading warm-ups, guiding on court, and maintaining good communication off the court, making sure everyone is mentally ready before they play.
10. Lastly, what message would you like to share with your fans and supporters heading into this decisive Power Week?
It has not been easy, but your support has kept us going. We will try our best to keep the momentum from the first game until the end. We really appreciate your continued support.
