Power Week Reflections with Crinums Captain Refiloe Nketsa

Crinums captain Refiloe Nketsa reflects on Power Week 1 and what’s driving the team forward.

1. What were some of the key takeaways or standout moments for your side during Power Week 1?
How intentional every player was on court.

2. What lessons has your team taken from the opening matches that you’re hoping to build on? Any specific areas you’ve identified for improvement?
We’ve learnt to focus on the task at hand and stay consistent. Every small detail adds up and helps us hold ourselves accountable to our goals.

3. Was there a particular match, moment or player during Power Week 1 that really stood out for you? On or off the court?
A standout moment was when every player got court time and experienced what it’s like to compete at this level. That kind of experience goes beyond what teammates can explain—it needs to be felt.

4. What is the team focusing on as you prepare for Power Week 2? Has anything shifted in mindset, strategy or preparation?
Our focus is on playing clinical, high-standard netball. Precision and intentionality are key—we want to maintain the standard we’ve set for ourselves.

5. How do you manage the physical and mental demands of the league, particularly during intense Power Week fixtures?
With the help of our team physio, rest, proper nutrition and mobility, we ensure our bodies are ready. Off-court discipline keeps us aligned with our performance goals.

6. What role are your team’s experienced players playing in mentoring younger or newer team members?
We aim to prepare them for challenges they may face in senior netball. Mental stimulation and structured play in sessions help build muscle memory and readiness for high-pressure situations.

7. What are you and your team most looking forward to in the next block of fixtures?
We’re excited to execute our game plan, see it come to life, and track our growth as a team.

8. Message to your fans?
Umntu ngumntu ngabantu. 🤍 We’re deeply thankful for your unwavering love and support. 🙏🏽
