Kingdom Stars captain Nozipho “Gorgeous” Ntshangase reflects on Power Week 1 and sets her sights on the top of the B Section.
1. What were some of the key takeaways or standout moments for your side during Power Week 1?
The standout for me was how our team came together as a family. We set goals for one another and worked together to achieve them. The real highlight was bonding during the ice baths—laughing, singing, and dancing together. The team morale was incredible, and being part of this group topped everything else.
2. What lessons has your team taken from the opening matches that you’re hoping to build on?
From those early matches, we began learning how other teams perform and how to improve our combinations. We’re also working on adjusting to umpires’ calls and refining our game plans.
3. Was there a particular match, moment or player during Power Week 1 that really stood out for you?
Our second game against the Diamonds really stood out. Coming straight off an intense derby, our hearts were still bleeding—but we gave it our all.
4. What is the team focusing on as you prepare for Power Week 2?
We’re focusing on playing as a unit and improving our communication. In the first leg, we had too many individual efforts—we’re now building true teamwork.
5. Has anything shifted in mindset, strategy or preparation?
Yes. There’s a renewed focus on consistency. We’ve gone back to the basics in training: teamwork, starting and finishing with the same intensity, and holding each other accountable. Our mindset has also shifted—we’re no longer just playing for ourselves, but for our province and our collective goal of getting back into Division A. The mission is to thrive!
6. What role are your team’s experienced players playing in mentoring younger or newer team members?
As senior players, we guide and protect our younger teammates both on and off the court. We’re teaching them how TNL works and helping them adjust to the pace and pressure.
7. What are you and your team most looking forward to in the next block of fixtures?
We’re aiming for that top spot in the B Section! We’re especially excited for our clash against the Kingdom Queens.
8. Message to your fans?
Shoutout to our fans and all netball supporters—we love you!
