Captain Izaan Snyman breaks down Tshukudu’s mindset heading into Power Week 2.
1. What were some of the key takeaways or standout moments for your side during Power Week 1?
Definitely the Tekom Supershots – it was incredible to watch those moments unfold.
2. What lessons has your team taken from the opening matches that you’re hoping to build on? Any specific areas you’ve identified for improvement?
To stay in the game and never give up until the final whistle.
3. Was there a particular match, moment or player during Power Week 1 that really stood out for you? On or off the court?
On court, the team’s overall performance really stood out – it was a collective effort.
4. What is the team focusing on as you prepare for Power Week 2? Has anything shifted in mindset, strategy or preparation?
We’re focusing on keeping our feet grounded and staying in the game mentally and physically.
5. How do you manage the physical and mental demands of the league, particularly during intense Power Week fixtures?
It takes discipline and balance. I focus on recovery through rest, good nutrition, and hydration. Mentally, I stay sharp with positive self-talk, staying present, and breaking the game into manageable moments. Support from teammates also plays a big role in keeping my energy and focus high.
6. What role are your team’s experienced players playing in mentoring younger or newer team members?
It’s been beautiful to watch. They carry the younger players with care and never make them feel excluded or small. Their experience really shows on court and guides us through matches.
7. What are you and your team most looking forward to in the next block of fixtures? Any match-ups you’re excited about or goals you’ve set?
We need to keep a positive mindset at all times. Staying at the top of the log is definitely our goal.
