Q&A with Refiloe Nketsa — Best Mid-Court Player Division 1, TNL 2025

1. What does it mean to you to be named one of the best players of TNL 2025?
It means a lot to be recognised as one of the best players. It shows that all the hard work — the extra sessions, the mental and personal growth — is paying off. I’m truly honoured to receive this award.

2. Which moment from this season stands out as your favourite or most memorable?
When Reratilwe Letsoalo won her POTM award and the first thing she did was thank our bus driver for his encouragement before the game. He told her, “Today is your day.” She didn’t know she’d go on to win — that moment stayed with me.

3. How did you stay motivated and consistent throughout the season?
By being intentional with my goals. I constantly assessed where I was, what I could improve, and what tools I had to grow.

4. What has this season taught you — on and off the court?
That learning never ends. There’s no such thing as reaching the finish line when it comes to growth.

5. Who or what inspired your performance this year?
Tannie Burta, my coaching staff, and my amazing teammates — they truly kept me going.

6. What advice would you give to young netballers hoping to follow in your footsteps?
START. Wherever you are, just start. Start planning, dreaming, praying, and investing in yourself — because you are your biggest investment.

7. What was the most challenging part of the season for you, and how did you overcome it?
Overcoming a personal loss and still needing to lead and show up for my team. Talking with fellow senior players helped me refocus — we overcame that hurdle together.

8. How important was teamwork in your success this season?
Teamwork was crucial from day one. Every single player showed up. We had a shared goal, and everyone bought into the plan.

9. If you could give one piece of advice to yourself at the start of the season, what would it be?
YOU ARE MORE THAN CAPABLE.

10. What’s next for you — any goals or dreams you’re chasing post-TNL 2025?
I’ll be coaching Sentraal U19 at SA Schools in Boksburg and preparing for Varsity Cup.
