The SPAR National Netball Championships bring together South Africa’s top netball talent for a week of fierce competition, pride, and passion.
Hosted by Netball South Africa and proudly sponsored by SPAR, the tournament showcases the best senior and U21 players from across the country — where champions are crowned and future SPAR Proteas are discovered.

Facts and Stats for the SPAR National Netball Championships

  • Since 1994 the SPAR National Championships have been dominated by teams from: Gauteng (17 winners) and Western Cape (9 winners).
  • Since 1994 Gauteng North (Tshwane) has won 13 titles, the most by any other team.
  • Of the current SPAR Proteas squad: Karla Pretorius (2016), Khanyisa Chawane (2018), Tarle Mathe (2022), Owethu Ngubane (2023) and SPAR Proteas Assistant Coach, Zanele Mdodana (2009) were have been named as Player of the Tournament. SA FAST5 Assistant Coach, Erin Burger was Player of the Tournament in 2010 and 2011.
  • Johannesburg from Gauteng is the defending champions (2023), they also won the SPAR National Championships in 2022.
  • Johannesburg will play host to the 2024 SPAR National Championships (at the Ellis Park Outdoor Courts), the sixth time since 1994.
  • Since 1994 Gauteng North U21 (Tshwane) has won 13 titles, the most by any other team.
  • Tshwane from Gauteng is the defending U21 champions (2023), they also won the U21 SPAR National Championships in 2022.
