The last round-robin fixtures concluded today at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria and it’s all systems go for tomorrows semi-finals in both division one and two. The Eastern Cape Aloes maintained their unbeaten run in the competition and made it twelve out of twelve wins after surviving a nerve-jangler against the Comets with a 42-41 victory. They will now face the Tornados who cemented their semi-final berth last minute after benefitting from the Comets one goal loss and by beating the Queens 41-34 this morning. It’s not entirely over for the Comets and the Queens as they will face off in the 5th/6th Playoff match but unfortunately it is the end of the road for the Northern Cape Diamonds who finished seventh in division two having only registered one win in twelve games.
Meanwhile, the Golden Fireballs finished top of division one and they will take on the Crinums in the last four. Both teams will be well rested for this must win clash following today’s day off but it will be a different ball game for the other semi-final game that will see the defending champions- Gauteng Jaguars battle it out with the Southern Stings. This is a repeat of last year’s final where the Jaguars soared to victory to hoist the trophy aloft but this time around both sides will look to settle the score having lost against each other.
