Following the recently held KZN Sports Awards over the weekend, Netball South Africa’s Executive would like to acknowledge and congratulate all the winners from the prestigious event held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.
Netball once again featured prominently in the nominations list and brought home four awards on the night. These achievements reflect the continued growth, excellence, and impact of netball within the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
KZN Netball walked away as Federation of the Year winners, while Mbali Diphoko claimed the Junior Sportswoman of the Year accolade. The late Themba Mkhize was honoured with a posthumous award in recognition of the role he played in the administration of the sport in the province.
Former SPAR Proteas player, former SPAR Baby Proteas head coach, former Kingdom Stars coach, and current Kingdom Queens head coach, Precious Mthembu, was named Coach of the Year.
“We are extremely proud of what KZN Netball has been able to achieve, not only at these awards but over the years. What we are witnessing is the result of consistent, high-quality work.
The recognition received at the awards evening affirms the unwavering dedication of the coaches, administrators, umpires, and players who continue to work tirelessly to elevate the sport we all love. There are valuable lessons to be learnt from what has been done here in order to achieve success.
As Netball South Africa’s Executive, we wish to congratulate KZN Netball on these outstanding achievements — you are truly the epitome of trendsetters,” said Mami Diale, Netball South Africa President.
